Brelly AI Review: What It Actually Does for Roofing Supplementers

Brelly AI has been showing up in more contractor feeds lately — pitched as an AI copilot that reads your claim documents and helps you push the file through. If you're a roofing contractor or a supplementer trying to figure out whether it belongs in your stack, here's a straight read.
What Brelly AI actually is
Brelly is a claims tool built around an AI assistant. You upload the claim docs — policy, estimate, photos, correspondence — and it helps you understand coverage, spot gaps, and organize the file. They pitch it in two flavors: a Claim Copilot for Policyholders (homeowner-facing) and a Claim Copilot for Professionals (contractors, PAs, attorneys).
For a roofing contractor, the pro version is the one that matters. It's aimed at speeding up the paperwork side of claims: reading documents, surfacing the language you need to argue coverage, and cutting the hours you'd otherwise spend re-reading a 90-page policy.
Where it helps
- Policy triage. Dropping a policy in and getting a plain-English summary of what's covered — matching, code, ordinance & law — saves real time when you're staring down a stack of claims.
- Correspondence drafting. Any tool that helps you crank out a clean, cited response to an adjuster's denial is worth looking at. Brelly is decent at this.
- Documentation discipline. Forcing the claim into a structured file with everything in one place is half the battle for shops that still run supplements out of email threads.
Where it stops
This is the part most reviews skip. An AI copilot doesn't know your carrier's playbook, and it doesn't know your Xactimate. It'll help you argue coverage. It won't build a defensible line-item estimate, price your macros, or teach a green rep why a specific line matters. It also can't sit across the table from an adjuster.
The other honest thing: any AI is only as good as the file you feed it. Bad photos, missing measurements, and a scope written in shorthand still produce a weak supplement — with or without Brelly.
Who it fits
If you're a solo supplementer or a small shop drowning in policy reads and adjuster emails, Brelly can genuinely cut hours. If you're a mid-size roofer trying to build a supplement department, you need the fundamentals first — the training, the process, the accountability — and then AI on top of it.
My take: use Brelly as a research and drafting assistant. Don't use it as a replacement for knowing your trade. The contractors making real money on supplements are the ones who understand the estimate cold. AI just lets them do it faster.
How this fits with what we teach
Supplement Class is the curriculum — 11 modules, 4 roles, the actual mechanics of writing and defending supplements in Xactimate. Tools like Brelly (or a tracking platform like SuppTrax) are the workflow layer that sits on top of that skill. Get the skill first, then bolt on the tools.
If you want the skill part handled: start the training here. $199/mo, covers your whole team, no contracts.
